Get ready for a trip to South Africa!
We’re living for the drama! If you’re looking to add some excitement to your life, you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled for Blood & Water on Netflix. The new teen series is the perfect mix of beloved shows Gossip Girl and Elite, but it has a tropical twist.
Recently, the streaming service released a trailer for the new South African mystery series. The show tells the story of Puleng Khumalo, a teenager who recently transferred to a prestigious school in the city of Cape Town.
After crossing paths with a private school swimming star named Fikele Bhele at a party, Puleng sets out to prove that Fikele is her long lost sister who had been abducted at birth.
Blood & Water stars Gail Mabalane (The Wild), Thabang Kamogelo Molaba (The Queen), Dillon Windvogel (Bhai’s Cafe), Arno Greeff (The Pro) and Ryle De Morny (Top Billing), among others.
Because of its prestigious private school setting, it’s easy to compare the new series to the likes of Gossip Girl, but those who have viewed the trailer have also compared it to another hit Netflix original—Elite.
“This is giving me soo much Elite vibe but I’m sure gonna watch too,” one comment reads.
“This new tin givin all them Elite vibes. Which is short for ‘I can't wait for it to come thru’. Big ups Netflix,” another viewer said.
The streaming giant is no stranger to international shows. Blood & Water is the second original series to come out of South Africa, following Queen Sono, which was released earlier this year.
Other popular releases from foreign countries include Unorthodox, Dark, Freud,, and , just to name a few.
May has only just begun but Netflix has already released tons of promising content to its viewers including, , Have a Good Trip: Adventures in Psychedelics, and Trial by Media.
