The First Look At Rachel McAdams’ ‘Eurovision’ Film Is Nothing Like Her ‘Mean Girls’ Role
It's dropping next month!
Check out these singing chops! You'll soon get to see Canada's sweetheart as she takes on a pretty unique role in Eurovision on Netflix. The comedy sees Rachel McAdams star opposite tons of other familiar faces as they battle for a coveted title in the musical competition.
The upcoming flick under the official title Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga is coming to Netflix next month. It's based on the real-life Eurovision Song Contest that's held in Europe every May.
McAdams will play Sigrit Ericksdottir opposite Will Ferrell as Lars Erickssong, per IMDb.
Collider claims that the pair are offered the chance to participate in the singing contest together using "fantastical, Scandinavian flair" with the goal of earning themselves the winning prize.
A first look video from Netflix UK & Ireland shows McAdams and Ferrell performing "Volcano Man".
The Mean Girls star is suited up in head-to-toe white with a shiny silver jacket and matching lipstick. Meanwhile, the Anchorman star is wearing a full suit of armour with a fur-lined cape.
In the background, a flowing waterfall, bright white snow, and the deep blue sea all act as backdrops for the funky music video.
IMDb claims that filming locations include Húsavík, Iceland, Chobham Rugby Club in Surrey, England, and Warner Bros Studios in Watford, UK.
Tasked with writing the perfect song, the duo faces off against the likes of Demi Lovato who plays Katiana, Pierce Brosnan as Erick Erickssong, Dan Stevens as Alexander Lemtov, Natasia Demetriou as Nina, and Jamie Demetriou as Kevin Swain.
The plot according to IMDb follows "aspiring musicians Lars and Sigrit [who] are given the opportunity to represent their country at the world's biggest song competition."
With that, the two "finally have a chance to prove that any dream worth having is a dream worth fighting for."
You can catch Eurovision when it premieres on Netflix on June 26.
