People Are Saying That This New Series On Netflix Canada Is A Rip-Off Of "Gilmore Girls"
This may just be the closest we'll ever get to a "Gilmore Girls" reboot.
With all the TV and movie reboots being announced as of late, people everywhere have been begging for Gilmore Girls to make a comeback. The show came to an end way back in 2007, but it definitely hasn't been forgotten by fans! Ginny & Georgia on Netflix Canada is the new Gilmore Girls.
On Wednesday, August 14, Netflix announced that yet another new series will be coming to the streaming service. Titled Ginny & Georgia, the series is a coming-of-age story about a mother and daughter, and without even seeing a trailer, audiences are already comparing the show to the classic Gilmore Girls.
Ginny & Georgia stars Antonia Gentry as 15-year old Ginny, who although angsty and awkward, "often feels more mature than her 30-year-old mother". Georgia, played by Brianne Howey is finally ready to settle down with her family and provide them with a normal life in New England.
"For Ginny, that means navigating a prestigious school, rising popularity, and complicated love interests. But it’s not all carpool and Kombucha as Georgia’s past threatens her and her family’s new way of life.”
The upcoming Netflix series is currently in production, and will also star Scott Porter, Diesel La Torraca, Jennifer Robertson, Felix Mallard, Sara Waisglass and Raymond Ablack. Once they heard about the series, people couldn't help but head to Twitter to share their thoughts.
If we're keeping it real, the plot for this new show does sound pretty much identical to Gilmore Girls, which can either be a really good thing or a total flop. If Ginny & Georgia is able to re-tell the classic story of Gilmore Girls and make it more modern for the 2019 audience, it'll be just as good as a re-boot in our books.
However, if Ginny & Georgia fumbles the ball and ruins the story that's been beloved by audiences everywhere for so long, there's no denying that critics will absolutely rip it apart.
