He’s been busy with Sonic the Hedgehog as of late, but last night Jim Carrey’s Kidding season two premiered and fans fell in love with the Canadian star all over again. After months of anticipation from the first season’s cliffhanger ending, Carrey is back and better than ever in his role as Mr. Pickles.
In season one we met Jeff Pickles, host of Mr. Pickles’ Puppet Time—the happiest show on TV. Film Daily compared Kidding to Joker as they both follow a grown man whose life revolves around lighting up the lives of children while dealing with demons of their own, although Carrey’s project is substantially less graphic.
At the end of season one, Mr. Pickles begins to chastise parents who allow television, and people like him, to raise their children. Consequently, Mr. Pickles’ Puppet Time is put on a time-out, leaving audiences to wonder what could possibly happen next.
In the trailer for season two, we see Jeff come to the realization that the children need him, which sends him on a quest to get his show back on the air. Of course, like with most things in life, Mr. Pickle’s goal won’t come easy, but he’s willing to put in the blood, sweat, and tears to make it happen.
The newest season may have just premiered last night, but there’s already an awesome line-up of celebrity cameos that you can expect to see over the next few weeks.
Last night’s show featured an appearance from Grammy-award winning artist, Tyler, the Creator. According to Hip Hop DX, the rapper played the role of Cornell, an employee at a nostalgia therapy centre.
Other celebrity cameos slated for the season include Ariana Grande, Blake Griffin, Dick Van Dyke, Eric Roberts, and Mae Whitman, Hip Hop DX reports.
You can catch new episodes of Kidding every Sunday night at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime.
