As of yesterday, it's been exactly four years since Justin Bieber put out a studio album. Sure, he's been busy with other projects like getting married, and launching his clothing brand, Drew House, but that doesn't mean his fans aren't hungry for a new album. The singer has released some subtle hints on Instagram lately that suggest that Justin Bieber's new music could be released sooner than you'd think.

Bieber is known to post some pretty obscure things on IG, and back on October 27, he posted a photo that said nothing but "R&Bieber", with a caption reading, "................πŸŽ₯πŸ‘€πŸŽΆ". This was a subtle hint at the potential of new music, although it wasn't definite.

On the same day, Bieber posted another photo that read, "If this gets 20 million likes, Justin Bieber will release an album before Christmas," and captioned it "Share it, like it, post in your story, I gotta see the demand ;) love you guys pumped for it! I’m almost done but your support will make me move faster."

20 million likes is quite an ambitious feat β€” even Kylie Jenner's most-liked photo hasn't collected that many double taps. The photo is currently sitting at 11.8 million likes, so it doesn't look like Bieber will hit his goal.

Despite this, there still is a strong possibility that new Bieber music is on the way; he did admit that he was almost done with the album, after all.

Shortly after the 'R&Bieber' post, Bieber's team filed papers to trademark the term, according to TMZ. The trademarking was requested for "entertainment services in the nature of live musical performances and production of sound recordings," which has been fueling rumours that this could be the name of Bieber's latest project.

Bieber's last album Purpose came out in November of 2015, and since then the singer has released singles like "I Don't Care" with Ed Sheeran and "10,000 Hours" with Dan & Shay.

Since it's been so long since we've heard a solo project, it'll definitely be interesting to see how Bieber's musical style has evolved during his hiatus.
