One of the best things that has happened to us millennials this year is the announcement of the Lizzie McGuire reboot on Disney+. First, Hilary Duff shocked us all with the announcement a few months ago, and now the surprises just keep on coming. While a ton of the old cast members have signed back on, there are a few that fans really want to see.
The show ran from 2001 to 2004, with The Lizzie McGuire Movie dropping in 2003. The iconic line "this is what dreams are made of" still hits hard today, and this reboot can attest to that. If you're not familiar with the reboot of Lizzie McGuire, you are in for a treat.
The show, which will debut sometime in 2020, is set to bring back Lizzie (Hilary Duff), her brother Matt (Jake Thomas), her mom Jo (Hallie Todd), and her dad Sam (Robert Carradine). Yesterday, Disney+ announced that Gordo (Adam Lamberg) would be reprising his role as well.
As of right now, those are the only actors who have signed on that we know of. However, fans have been very vocal about who they want to see hop on board next.
Of course, there are the obvious characters such as Miranda (Lalaine), Ethan Craft, (Clayton Snyder), and Lizzie's arch-nemesis, Kate Sanders (Ashlie Brillault). But one major role that people are begging for on Twitter is Larry Tudgeman.
Larry Tudgeman, who was played by Kyle Downes, had an iconic role in Lizzie McGuire as the guy who wore the same shirt every single day.
You also may remember him as he was always trying to impress Lizzie, Miranda, and Kate. But you may not know that Larry is Canadian in real life.
Kyle Downes was born in Tennessee, but moved to Toronto at a young age and started acting at 13. He had a few roles, but his big break was when he was cast in Lizzie McGuire. Ever since then, he's been in a few projects, such as CSI: Miami.
Fans on Twitter are not only asking for Miranda to be involved in the project but for Larry to be as well. One Twitter user simply wrote, "Ok but will Larry Tudgeman be in the Lizzie McGuire Series @disneyplus???" while another wrote, "I hope Larry Tudgeman is Lizzie McGuire’s boyfriend in the reboot". Wouldn't that be a twist?
Others are hoping that Larry redeemed himself by saying, "Everyone picked on Larry Tudgeman for being a nerd in #LizzieMcGuire and I really hope they bring him back as a millionaire/genius who had a neville longbottom transformation #justiceforlarrytudgeman".
Disney+ may just be saving the best for last. If you're eagerly awaiting the reboot, you're not alone.
Hilary Duff has kept her lips sealed on a lot but in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she was asked if there's a chance that Lizzie is engaged to Ethan. Duff slyly replied and said, "No, she's not currently engaged to Ethan".
Maybe that means she was in the past? We will just have to watch to find out!
