With so many new shows and Netflix Originals being released and available at the click of a button, it's hard sometimes to filter through and find the best of the best. While trending shows like Stranger Things and Orange Is the New Black are often promoted and the talk of the town, there are some other Netflix series that were released this year that you really shouldn't miss. So clear some time, get comfy and get ready for a serious binge-watch! Here are six of the most popular Netflix Canada TV shows that you may have missed in 2019.

You

When You first dropped on Netflix in 2019, people instantly fell in love with this psychological thriller series. Lonely boy no longer, Gossip Girls Penn Badgley captured hearts in a really weird, creepy way that had most of us hanging on his every word.

If you haven't watched the first season multiple times already, then don't walk but run to the couch and get ready for a night in you won't ever forget!

With season two being released on December 26th, it's the perfect time for a first season binger.

Dead to Me

So popular that fans practically demanded a second season as soon as they finished the first, Dead to Me is a must-watch for anyone and everyone with Netflix.

When a widow and a free-spirit bond in a therapy group, life is never the same. As the two women become closer and closer, a dark secret threatens to destroy everything between them.

With some big names like Christina Applegate, James Marsden and Linda Cardellini, this dark comedy series has fans obsessed giving Netflix no choice but to continue the series with a whole new season.

Netflix announced this past summer it would be renewing Dead to Me for a second season to be released sometime next year.

Lucifer

While it wasn't technically released this year, Lucifer really blew up in 2019. Based on the DC Comics character, the series focuses on Lucifer Morningstar aka the devil, who leaves Hell to move to Los Angeles.

Being called one of Netflix's most binge-watched shows in 2019, people everywhere are talking about Lucifer and if you haven't already watched the show do so immediately.

With season four just released in May, currently, Netflix Canada has four whole seasons to watch with a fifth and final on the way.

Unbelievable

Released this past September, Unbelievable is a new mini-series on Netflix Canada based on real events. The show is based around the Washington and Colorado series of rape cases that occurred from 2008-2011.

The first victim, known as Marie, was an eighteen-year-old girl who comes forward and Police think she's lying. Unbelievable tells her story, focusing on a young girl who reports that she has been raped only to be accused of lying about the incident.

When no one believes her, two female detectives take it upon themselves to uncover the truth.

Santa Clarita Diet

Starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant, Santa Clarita Diet is another Netflix Original series that released a new season in 2019.

The series follows the lives of Shelia and Joel Hammond, a married couple whose lives are turned upside down when Shelia slowly transforms into the undead and begins to crave human flesh.

Unfortunately, the third season will be the show's last when Netflix announced in April that it was cancelling Santa Clarita Diet despite its high ratings.

Regardless, the horror-comedy series is definitely worth the watch if you don't mind a little blood and gore.

Atypical

With a new third season that just released on Netflix Canada, Atypical is a popular Netflix show you should put on your must-watch list if you haven't already.

The series is about the ups and downs of Sam Gardner, a young boy on the autism spectrum. In the new season, we see Sam leave home for the first time and enter college. Expect lots of laughs, heart-warming moments and family drama of course!
