After a breakup in 2013 that left fans heartbroken, a My Chemical Romance reunion tour has finally been announced. The rock band consisting of Gerard Way, Ray Toro, Frank Iero, and Mikey Way, had been together since 2001 before they called it quits. Since then, they’ve performed once at a reunion show in Los Angeles in December of 2019, and have apparently decided to bring the show across North America — including a stop in Toronto.
They announced their upcoming dates in a YouTube video today, January 29, titled “A Summoning…”
The video shows a bedroom filled with paranormal objects including a pentagram and ouija board where a man accidentally finds himself summoning hooded creatures, that sends him on a journey through MCR’s past albums.
From their first single, “Vampires Will Never Hurt You” to their albums Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge and Danger Days, the main character of the video relives them all.
In the end, he finds himself standing in The Forum in L.A. where the tour dates are then revealed.
This marks the band's first tour in nine years. They’ll be visiting a total of 18 cities across the continent starting on September 9 in Detroit, Michigan.
Unfortunately for Canadian fans, they’ll only have one opportunity to attend the reunion tour in their country.
The band will be performing at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on September 14.
Tickets will be available for purchase on TicketMaster as of January 31 at 12:00 p.m. EST.
