Whenever we plan on starting a new show we always search for the quickest and easiest way to get access to entire seasons at a time. Netflix is taking our need for efficiency to a whole other level. They've discovered a new feature that'll allow us to binge-watch our favourite shows up to 50% faster than normal. Although fans may be praising the streaming platform, Hollywood doesn't think this Netflix Canada binge-watching feature is a good idea.

Basically a new update for the streaming platform would include an ultra fast-forward button that would allow you to watch the show up to 1.5x faster or 0.5x slower. As of right now, the feature is only being tested for mobile Netflix apps. Android phones across the globe currently have the feature and Netflix is waiting for their reviews of this binge-watching miracle.

While this button seems super convenient and perfect for those last-minute binges before a season premiere, creatives behind Netflix's content aren't too thrilled at the idea. They claim that messing with the way an audience is meant to view a series or movie is interfering with another person's piece of art.

Hollywood even retaliated on social media about the new feature. Filmmaker Judd Apatow threatened, "Don't make me have to call every director and show creator on Earth to fight you on this... Don't f*ck with our timing. We give you nice things. Leave them as they were intended to be seen."

Aaron Paul, star of El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie even jumped in with his thoughts trying to give Netflix the benefit of the doubt by tweeting, "There is NO WAY @Netflix will move forward with this. That would mean they are completely taking control of everyone else’s art and destroying it. Netflix is far better than that. Am I right Netflix?"

After the internet's speculation, Netflix themselves confirmed they're testing by releasing this statement,

"We regularly test new features that could help improve Netflix. In the last month, we've started testing several additional player controls, including the ability to: alter the brightness on your phone without going into settings; lock your screen and find your language and audio settings more easily, and vary the speed at which you watch on mobile. This is a mobile-only test and gives people the ability to vary the speed at which they watch on phones or tablets — choosing from normal to slower (0.5X or 0.75X) or faster (1.25X and 1.5X). It's a feature that has long been available on DVD players — and has been frequently requested by our members."

The fact that it's in testing means that Netflix is waiting for reviews on the new feature but with Hollywood not backing them, will they still go through with the speed-binge feature? Only time will tell.
