Netflix Canada Finally Lets You Get Rid Of Autoplay Trailers While You Browse

The streaming service introduced its users to a world of seemingly unlimited content at the touch of a button. With hundreds of things to choose from, viewers are transported to a commercial-free experience whenever and wherever. But the platform had one feature that irritated so many people. Netflix Canada's autoplay trailers can now be disabled and tons of users are pretty happy with the change.
In an email to Narcity, it was announced that "We’re always working to improve the Netflix experience based on member feedback, that’s why we’re releasing a new feature today, that allows auto-play previews to be turned off across all platforms."
The Netflix US Twitter account announced yesterday that "Some people find this feature helpful. Others not so much. We’ve heard the feedback loud and clear — members can now control whether or not they see autoplay previews on Netflix."
They linked to the Netflix help center that explains how to turn the feature off. According to the website, there are three steps in the process to make your life that little bit easier.
First, you sign in on a web browser. Next, you click "Manage Profiles" and select your profile of choice. You'll see a box labelled "Autoplay previews while browsing on all devices" that you'll be able to check or uncheck. They also list instructions on how to disable "autoplay next episode".
Netflix notes that you might experience "a delay before the setting takes effect." But once it does, you'll be on your way to a more enjoyable experience!
Most people solved the problem by putting their TV on mute while looking for something to watch. But autoplay gets activated every time you hover over a title for a couple of seconds and the trailers can be pretty loud.
Some called the autoplay experience "obnoxious" and a "horrific nightmare".
A couple of others claim that they stopped watching Netflix because of the annoying feature.
Other Twitter users brought up another pesky feature: the judgy "are you still watching?" pop up. Netflix's help center notes that it comes up after "you've watched two episodes of a TV show in a row without interacting with the video player controls".
Unfortunately, they haven't yet introduced a way to disable this but these users would like to see it happen.
But wait, there's more. In response to Netflix US's tweet, one user wrote that they "would also love an option to not see the 'skip intro' button." Another tweeted, "Now do the same for autoplay at the end of a movie".
Quite a few people are on board for being able to watch the full credits once a movie ends.
