Netflix has been reaching huge numbers when it comes to their original movies lately. From Murder Mystery, To All The Boys I've Loved Before, The Perfection, but apparently, their most successful movie is yet to come! The streaming platform just announced through Deadline that they purchased a huge blockbuster film that stars two Canadians. Netflix's biggest movie yet will star Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds.
The movie was originally owned by Universal, which makes this Netflix snag a huge deal! Not only was the studio trade huge but the budget the movie is set at is even more impressive: $130 million!
Red Notice is an action thriller that was set to star Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot, but Netflix made sure there was another Canadian involved in their new hit. Ryan Reynolds was cast as soon as the buy was made. Although The Rock only has dual citizenship, he still loves Canada just as much as the rest of us!*
Netflix has reportedly been trying to get the rights to Red Notice since 2018 where they came in second bidding to Universal. Universal ultimately gave up the film during pre-production where they apparently didn't have full confidence in the film's potential.
The thriller has a filming start date of 2020, which means it will likely only be released later that year or early 2021, but with the budget and cast, it'll definitely be worth the wait.
