Netflix’s New Series “Sex/Life” Will Film In Toronto & Is So Similar To "Sex and the City”
It's about "female identity and desire."
Since the start of the year, the number of productions using Canada as their filming grounds has only increased. One of those sets across the country belongs to Netflix’s Sex/Life filming in Toronto. The new drama/comedy series is set to start up production in March.
Although there’s yet to be specific filming locations announced, the city of Toronto did post the name of the company that is running the shooting of the series, Poutine Productions, ULC.
Sex/Life is based on a memoir written by author BB Easton titled 44 Chapters About 4 Men. Easton wrote the novel based on her tumultuous love life throughout all stages of life.
The show has been teased as being about the life of a suburban mom and wife, Billie Conelly, who struggles with letting go of her single days. Deadline revealed that the series is being described as providing a “deliciously steamy new look at female identity and desire.”
The premise is similar to the hit show Sex and the City which also studied the inner workings of female identity.
Conelly will be played by actress Sarah Shahi, who according to her IMDb has previously starred in shows like The Rookie, Person of Interest, and Heartstrings.
Deadline has reported that Stacy Rukeyser will be adapting the memoir into a script and will executive produce alongside J. Miles Dale and Larry Robbins.
There has yet to be a confirmed release date for Sex/Life or an announcement revealing the shows supporting cast members
