“Jane The Virgin” Star Justin Baldoni Is In Montreal Directing & Producing A Drama Film
They've shared so many photos of the Canadian city!
If you watched Jane the Virgin then you were probably caught in the ongoing Michael or Rafael debate. For those of you who were inevitably smitten by Rafael, played by Justin Baldoni, it likely had to do with his impeccable acting skills and of course, his charming good looks. But after the show's series finale, Baldoni decided to pause his on-screen roles and get into directing box office movies. His recent film, Five Feet Apart, was a definite crowd pleaser and proved he has the chops to direct amazing and heartwarming movies. Jane the Virgin's Justin Baldoni is in Montreal for a new film and he's playing double duty as director and producer.
Baldoni's new film is called Clouds and it's based on the 2014 book by Laura Sobiech called Fly a Little Higher: How God Answered a Mom's Small Prayer in a Big Way. Production began in Quebec in early October, as Baldoni and his cast have been documenting their journey on set in crispy Montreal.
The main cast has been confirmed on IMDb as Madison Iseman, Neve Campbell, Tom Everett Scott, Lil Rel Howery, Fin Argus, and Sabrina Carpenter who you may already know and love from Girls Meet World.
In the original book, Sobiech tells the story of her son who was diagnosed with bone cancer and used his battle as an opportunity to inspire people despite what little time he had left on earth. Neve Campbell will play the role of Laura Sobiech and Fin Argus will play her son, Zach. Campbell hails from Guelph, Ontario, and you may know her from House of Cards and a couple of episodes of Grey's Anatomy. Argus is fairly new to the entertainment industry and has starred in The Commute and Total Eclipse.
Baldoni has been posting the production process on his Instagram, sharing photos of table reads, selfies, and scenic shots.
In this photo showing "day 6" of filming, Baldoni tagged a new location in Saint-Hubert, Quebec.
The other cast and crew have been sharing their own photos as well, always giving a shoutout to Montreal in the location.
Baldoni actually brought his family with him to Montreal including wife Emily Baldoni, four-year-old daughter Maiya, and two-year-old son Maxwell. Emily posted a photo on Halloween announcing that their celebrations were delayed in their temporary home because of the awful fall weather. She wrote, "STOP THE PRESSES!! Halloween has been cancelled! I didn’t know it was possible but the city of Montreal has put a pin in Halloween until tomorrow."
The movie doesn't have a set premiere date yet but definitely keep your eyes open if you're in the Quebec area.
