“Riverdale” Casts A Canadian Actor To Star As Fred Andrews’ Brother
Luke Perry, we miss you!
You probably remember how heartbroken you were when you first heard the news of Luke Perry's death earlier this year. For Riverdale fans who knew Perry as the beloved Fred Andrews, the immediate thought of how the show would continue without him popped in question. In order to keep the memory of Perry alive, Riverdale casts Ryan Robbins to star as Fred Andrews' brother in the series.
The Riverdale writers wrote Perry's character out of the show with a tragic car accident, when he was hit by a speeding car while helping someone change a flat tire.
Perryat 52-years-old after suffering a massive stroke while living in Los Angeles. The news of his death was heartbreaking for the entertainment industry and tons of his costars to share their condolences and memories of his life. Perry was best known for his role as Dylan McKay in Beverly Hills, 90210. His last on-screen role was as Wayne Maunder in Once Upon a Time In Hollywood which premiered four months after his death.
Fred Andrews was the father of lead character Archie Andrews, played by KJ Apa. Fred owned a construction company and had a strong relationship with his son. The introduction of Fred's brother will certainly tug at the heartstrings for Archie.
Earlier this month, Perry's former costar Mädchen Amick who plays Alice Cooper, posted a photo on her Instagram with a heartfelt caption dedicating that night's episode to Perry. Amick ended her post by saying, "We always talked about how we felt we would be friends for life. I think we’ll be friends through the afterlife as well." Does anybody have any tissues?
Ryan Robbins hails from Victoria, B.C. and has appeared in tons of shows and movies since the mid-90s. His most notable roles include being Charlie Connor in Battlestar Galactica, and he was in the drama series Sanctuary, playing Henry Foss.
According to Deadline, Robbins will be named Frank Andrews and will pop up sometime in the fourth season. Deadline described him as a "blue-collar, former high school football star" who often gets himself into trouble. They indicated that Frank will be introduced into the script by sharing that he is in need of a home after serving in the Army. We sure do hope Robbins' character knows about his brother's death before he arrives or there will be serious tears.
Season four premiered earlier this month and we're definitely looking forward to seeing how the writers introduce Fred Andrews' mystery brother. Check out the trailer for Riverdale season four below.
