It seems that as soon as September rolls around, people totally abandon summer and hop right on board the fall bandwagon. Pumpkin spice lattes are consumed on a daily basis, fall fashion makes a comeback, and of course, Halloween decorations return to front porches. Here are seven scary movies on Netflix Canada to watch before Halloween.

Realistically speaking, we still have quite a while before the big day rolls around, but there's no reason you can't get into the spooky season mood a little early. Be sure to check out these horror movies when you have a chance.

Halloween (2007)

Rating: 27% on Rotten Tomatoes

What better way to get into the Halloween spirit than by watching the Halloween franchise? The 2007 remake of the film has definitely received some mixed reviews, but it still tells the classic story of Michael Myers that horror fans have come to love.

The Babadook

Rating: 98% on Rotten Tomatoes

The Babadook tells the story of a widowed mother, who has to not only cope with the tragic and violent death of her husband but also with her young son's newfound fears. As time goes on, she comes to realize that the "monster" from his nightmares may not be fake after all.

Hereditary

Rating: 89% on Rotten Tomatoes

Since it came out in 2018, Hereditary has become a classic in the horror film world. The movie tells the story of a family who has lost its matriarch, and shortly after finds themselves haunted by unexpected and disturbing occurrences.

Look Away

Rating: 17% on Rotten Tomatoes

Even if you hate them on any other day of the year when Halloween rolls around, you're obligated to watch at least one super cheesy teen horror film, and Look Away is just that. The movie follows Maria, a high school student whose life is flipped upside down after she changes places with her sinister reflection.

It

Rating: 86% on Rotten Tomatoes

It: Chapter Two is out in theatres now, and before you head to see it, you'll want to see the original film! The 2017 remake of the classic Stephen King story has received great reviews and is sure to scare you at least a little bit.

Get Out

Rating: 98% on Rotten Tomatoes

Jordan Peele's Get Out has become widely renowned as one of the greatest horror films in recent history — something about it really allows audiences to connect with the film, and I think we can all agree that the concept and plot are seriously bone-chilling.

The Purge

Rating: 39% on Rotten Tomatoes

Of all the horror movies I've seen in my day, the story of The Purge may just be the most realistic, and that's the whole point of the film. The original movie came out in 2013, and since then several sequels have continued to tell the story. Why not have a Purge franchise marathon this fall?
