“Suits” Is Filming Its Last Season In Toronto Right Now & You Can Visit All The Locations
The show is set in New York, but filmed in Toronto.
After an iconic nine-season run, the hit series Suits is finally coming to an end. Since it first took over TV back in 2011, the New York-based show had fans quickly obsessing over the lives of Harvey Specter and the rest of his team. Suits Season 9 is filming in Toronto right now, here's where you can find them.
If you didn't know any better, you would probably believe that Suits is entirely filmed in New York because the crew does a really good job of making the set look like the Big Apple. As it turns out, only the pilot episode of the series was shot in NYC, the rest has been filmed right here in Canada!
The show has had various filming locations around Toronto, despite the Zane Specter Litt Wheeler Williams law office supposedly being located at 601 E. 54th St. in New York on the show.
Many of the law firms interior shots are filmed at Downsview Park Studios, which is also the home of the Netflix series Desiginated Survivor. Any exterior shots you see of the firm are actually of Toronto's Bay Adelaide West, which is a 51-storey skyscraper located in the city's financial district.
You may have noticed that several of the show's scenes feature a NY skyline backdrop. The secret for this isn't just really good editing — they actually have two custom made curtains that show New York at day and night in order to give the illusion that the show really is being filmed in the city.
As far as the houses of your favourite Suits stars go, there are several locations in the city that are used. Harvey's apartment is located on John Street, and both John and Duncan Streets have been used for the exterior of Donna Paulsen's home.
The new season of Suits airs every Wednesday night — be sure to keep an eye out for some of your favourite Toronto spots next time you watch.
