She’s back! After 12 years, Jamie Lynn Spears is finally returning to acting and it’s for one of the top streaming platforms in the industry. Sweet Magnolias on Netflix promises to deliver audiences all the romance and, of course, all the drama.

Based on the novel written by Sheryl Woods, Netflix’s synopsis reads, “Lifelong friends Maddie, Helen, and Dana Sue lift each other up as they juggle relationships, family and careers in the small, Southern town of Serenity.”

JoAnna Garcia Swisher (Reba), Brooke Elliott (Drop Dead Diva), and Heather Headley (Chicago Med) are set to star in the ten-episode series while Spears will take on the series regular role as Noreen Fitzgibbons.

According to Deadline, her character will act as the town newcomer who takes up a job as a nurse in order to get away from her past mistakes.

This will mark Spears’ first role since her appearance on the comedy Misguided in 2008.

The actress has been nothing but open about loving her time on set and has even shared multiple behind the scenes looks at the show.

She even revealed that her character happens to be expecting, “It’s officially MAY, which means #SWEETMAGNOLIAS comes out THIS month! Ya’ll finally get to meet #NOREEN and her baby bump in 19 days🤰🏼🎉.”

The premiere of her newest project comes almost a year after a Zoey 101 reboot was reportedly in the works. However, there has yet to be any more news on Spears reprising her childhood role.

Sweet Magnolias premieres on Netflix May 19. You can check out the full trailer below.
