You’ve got some serious streaming to do! The month of May is bringing so many new shows and movies to Netflix that you won’t want to miss including a new teen dramedy that’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. Not only does the film itself sound amazing, but The Half of It cast makes it even better.

If you’re unfamiliar with the new Netflix original, The Half of It tells the story of high school student Ellie Chu, who is known for being quiet and nerdy. In fact, Ellie actually makes money off of her peers by writing their papers for them in order to improve their grades.

When Ellie is approached by a popular jock named Paul, she expects him to commission her just like everyone else, but it turns out that he has a unique request. Paul has a crush on another popular student named Aster, and he wants Ellie to help him pen romantic love letters to her.

Ellie accepts the challenge, but it doesn’t take long for her newfound friend to realize that they’re both crushing on the same girl, making things seriously awkward and complicated.

Now that you know that The Half of It has an awesome plot, we can move on to fangirling over the incredible cast.

Chinese-American actress Leah Lewis plays the role of Ellie in the film. You may recognize her from shows like Station 19, Charmed, and The Good Doctor, or maybe you’ve even seen her wandering around beautiful British Columbia during her time off from filming Nancy Drew.

Paul, Ellie’s new athletic friend, is played by actor Daniel Diemer, who has appeared in The Man in the High Castle, Family Pictures, Sacred Lies, and Her Name Is Destiny, among others.

Aster, the object of Paul and Ellie’s affection, is played by Alexxis Lemire, who is a bit newer to the acting game. You may have seen her in The Art of Murder, Truth or Dare, or The Other Mother.

Other noteworthy cast members include Enrique Murciano (Without a Trace), Becky Ann Baker (Freaks and Geeks), Catherine Curtin (Orange Is the New Black), Collin Chou (Flash Point), and Wolfgang Novogratz (The Last Summer).

The Half of It is coming to Netflix on Friday, May 1. You can check out the heartwarming trailer for the new film below.
