It's no secret that the latest blockbuster hit, Crazy Rich Asians has been wildly successful since it came out last week. In fact, the movie claimed the top rank at the box office in both Canada and the US over the weekend.

The movie has been so successful that even though it has been out for less than a week, (it came out in Canada on Aug. 15) they are already getting ready for a Crazy Rich Asians sequel.

One of the film's star's Awkwafina, who plays the best friend, Goh Peik Lin, confirmed the news on her Twitter account with a heart emoji today, sharing the news that the film's creators had already signed on director Jon M. Chu to also do the second film.

Chu is an accomplished American filmmaker and director with films like Step Up 2 and 3, G.I. Joe, and the Justin Bieber: Never Say Never movie under his belt and although it's early, it is pretty safe to say Crazy Rich Asians is one of his best.

The story follows Rachel Chu as she goes to Singapore with her longtime boyfriend to attend a friend's wedding only to learn that his family is actually crazy rich. The film has everything you want from comedy, drama, and incredible characters. But what it's being praised for is its representation.

Crazy Rich Asians has a star-studded cast of actors, all of Asian heritage, and works to provide a strong image of Asian people in the media, similar to what Black Panther did with the black community.

Similarly, Netflix's newest original film, To All The Boys I've Loved Before is getting praise for also showing diversity. The film stars Lana Condor, who plays Lara Jean Covey a half-Korean and half-white teenager dealing with school, family and romance drama.

Some of the notable cast members include Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Harry Shum Jr, and Ken Jeong.

The movie premiered in Canada just last week, on August 15, meaning there is still tons of time to catch the movie in theatres. It hasn't yet been confirmed when the sequel is expected to come out.
