Emily Blunt Officially Speaks Out On Doing A "The Devil Wears Prada" Sequel
We're really excited.
The Devil Wears Prada has to be one of the most iconic films of the mid-2000s. It's still completely iconic and we love it. The hit film starred Anne Hathaway as Andy, the nerdy assistant who lands a job working for a terrifying editor in chief of a high fashion magazine, Miranda Priestly aka Meryl Streep.
The film is simply amazing. Streep's character was the perfect balance of eloquence and terrifying. Hathaway played the awkward nerdy assistant to a T. Oh, and if you forgot, Emily Blunt played Emily, the number two to Streep's character.
It wasn't until recently that I even realized that Emily Blunt was the actor that played Emily! With her fire-red hair and b*tchy attitude, it was hard to tell that the character was actually played by the poised British actress.
Well. Emily Blunt is finally speaking out on whether or not she would actually do a sequel to the infamous movie. Fans have been begging for a sequel since the movie was released back in 2006.
According to Elle Magazine, Emily said, "I almost hope it doesn't [happen] because I think sometimes when you sequel everything kind of dilutes how special the original is". Which, we completely understand. Kind of like the Fast and Furious, it was special in the beginning, and now it's just completely overdone.
But wait, all hope is not lost. She went on to say that if everyone else in the cast were down, she'd be up for it. She said, "We all just wept with laughter, I loved working with sweet Annie Hathaway and it was my first experience working with Meryl and Stanley Tucci who is now my brother-in-law."
So, it looks like a sequel may happen in the future! We just need to convince Tucci, Hathaway and of course, Meryl Streep.
