Fans Are Furious That Adam Levine Went Shirtless For The Super Bowl For This Huge Reason

Maroon 5 played the halftime show at the Super Bowl, and fans were not happy.

I'm not sure how many of you are football fans, but I can guarantee a lot of you are halftime show fans. Whether the Patriots are playing or not, we can usually look forward to an amazing halftime show. Well, usually. Last night, Maroon 5 took the stage and fans were not happy about their performance. Some calling it bland, others calling it a waste of time. But the huge controversy isn't about the music, it's about Adam Levine going shirtless. Fans are furious that Adam Levine went shirtless for the Super Bowl, and the reason is actually valid.

Let me take you back to 2004 when times were simpler and a halftime show was just that, a halftime show. But one of the biggest controversies happened at the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show when Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake were performing, and when Justin ripped off part of her top, a huge wardrobe malfunction happened and exposed her.

Fast forward to the 2019 Super Bowl, and Adam Levine goes shirtless. Most people probably thought, "Oh, okay. Cool", but others were furious that Janet Jackson's infamous wardrobe malfunction basically made her career go downhill. Fans on Twitter are not happy that Adam Levine can take his shirt off, but Janet Jackson was seemingly banned from the halftime show.

To match with the not-so-great and exciting football game last night, fans were less than thrilled with Maroon 5's vanilla performance. Maroon 5 even sent out an Instagram post saying, "We thank the universe for this historic opportunity to play on the world’s biggest stage. We thank our fans for making our dreams possible. And we thank our critics for always pushing us to do better." Well, the critics are definitely pushing them to do better. Here are a few tweets shading the Super Bowl for allowing Adam Levine to go shirtless:

If you happened to miss the halftime show or the Super Bowl all together last night, you can relive it below. Whether you think #freethenipple or the opposite, it seems like times have definitely changed since 2004. Hi 2019, let's allow Janet Jackson now, shall we?
