HBO Finally Responds To That Coffee Cup Mishap In 'Game Of Thrones'
They didn't have a lot to say.
If you've been on the internet the past couple of days, then you have definitely seen a little spoiler of what happened in Sunday's Game of Thrones episode. No, I'm not talking about who died or what the episode is about, but a mistake that the entire world finds hilarious. HBO responds to misplaced coffee cup in Game of Thrones.
During the episode on Sunday night, the main characters had a large dinner. After their huge battle on the previous episode, they wanted to celebrate as best they could. However, one thing was wrong in that episode and it was so clear to everyone watching. During the dinner scene, a cup of coffee was spotted on the table. Not just any cup of coffee, but in front of Daenerys Targaryen was a takeaway cup of coffee... from Starbucks.
Game of Thrones fans aren't just like any fans. They're die-hard fans, which means this obvious mistake was hilarious but also upsetting. Fans all over Twitter were laughing, bashing the show, as well as saying HBO just "gave up".
Well, HBO has responded to all of the memes all over the internet and what they had to say was... interesting. We all know there isn't a Starbucks in Winterfell. This was HBO's response in a press release:
"The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea."
If you keep up with Game of Thrones, then you'd know they had a ton of night shoots to prepare for the last season, especially that iconic episode a couple of weeks ago. You can just imagine how tired everyone was, and also how much coffee they had to drink to get through.
In an email to Variety, an art director named Hauke Richter revealed that mistakes like this happen way more than you'd think. However, it's usually not a big deal. But since its Game of Thrones and millions of people are watching, it's bound to be blown out of proportion.
You can catch Game of Thrones on HBO this Sunday.
