Here Are All The Big Shows That Won't Be Coming Back In 2018

Grab the tissues.

There's nothing worse than finishing a season of your favourite show, only to find out that the next one won't be out for a good, long while.

Game of Thrones and Stranger things fans have already experienced a global period of mourning after the two smash hits finished last year, leaving them to find other shows - like Big Little Lies, Peaky Blinders and True Detective - to binge on.

Unfortunately, those are over now too. And they won't be coming back for a long time.

Here are all the shows you were hoping to see this year, but definitely won't be (sorry):

Game of Thrones

Winter is officially here, but fans will just have to wait a little longer to see it. HBO promised fans the finale would premiere in either 2018 or 2019 - though we all hoped for as soon as possible. But Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, has confirmed the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones will not air until 2019.

Stranger Things

At the end of 2017, David Harbour said we'd see Stranger Things "sometime in 2019", proving that the wait for Eleven and the boys is going to be longer than we hoped. Everything we've heard since seems to have confirmed the same thing.

Peaky Blinders

If you're into sharply dressed British gangsters and 1920s crime dramas, you'll be happy to know this UK hit is available on Netflix. Unfortunately, the show's network has already confirmed that Peaky Blinders won't be back until 2019.

Big Little Lies

Some fans weren't even sure if they'd be getting a second season of Big Little Lies, but now that we know we are (and that Meryl Streep will be starring), it hurts a little to know that we'll have to wait until 2019 to watch it again. HBO confirmed that it will start shooting in the spring after it was described as a "small miracle" that they managed to get the cast back together again.

True Detective

While HBO has assembled an impressive cast for season three, the network has also confirmed the show won't be back until 2019.

Fargo

FX chief John Landgraf revealed that they're expecting new Fargo in 2019. "Noah Hawley has told us that he has an idea that excited me enormously for a fourth cycle of Fargo. The plan is to have that ready for 2019. I'm focused on what's coming in 2018. The anticipation is there will be another cycle of Fargo in 2019," he noted.

Rick and Morty

Season four of Rick and Morty hasn't even been officially confirmed yet, so don't expect anything until at least the end of 2019. Producer Ryan Ridley said: "I know how long this show takes to write, let alone animate. I'd be surprised if there was a fourth season on the air anytime sooner than 2019... late 2019."

While season three will definitely have a stellar cast, HBO has confirmed that the show won't be back until 2019. Production is scheduled to start in February.

Taboo

Digital Spy reports that Taboo will probably follow the same pattern as the first series and broadcast it in early January 2019. Production is expected to start sometime early this year.
