For a lot of 20-something girls (and guys, even though they don't often like to admit it), Gossip Girl was a huge part of our teenage years. Although the show was totally ridiculous a lot of the time, we all became so wrapped up in the lives of Manhattan's Upper East Side. The show may have ended years ago, but people are still hopeful that we'll get another taste. Is Gossip Girl coming back? Chace Crawford said he'd star in a reboot.
News of a Gossip Girl comeback has been circling the internet forever now, but back in February of this year, CW president Mark Pedowitz confirmed that even the network has been chatting about a revival.
Because so much time has passed since the show ended, Pedowitz admitted that he's not entirely sure what the plot of the revival would even be. "There’s a discussion, but I don’t know if we’re there yet,” he said.
Apart from the possible writing complications, there's also the struggle of getting all the insanely busy actors back together. Blake Lively is busy being a mother and actress in a series of movies, Penn Badgley has moved on to the Netflix Original, You, and everyone else is looking pretty booked and busy as well!
On a lighter note though, Chace Crawford, who played heartthrob Nate Archibald on Gossip Girl recently said that he'd be more than happy to star in a reboot.
"I don't know what it would look like with us being in our 30s now, but I always say, because it was such a big part of my life, I’m open to anything. It would have to be really right, and really specific, and with TV and the golden age of the TV streaming service, maybe an eight-episode season...”
Although this news doesn't actually CONFIRM anything, it definitely doesn't entirely deny the possibility either, so we'll sit here waiting for yet another scandalous update from our friends on the Upper East Side.
