One of the most recent, highly anticipated movies to be added to Netflix is none other than Wine Country, a film starring Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, and Tina Fey, among other big names. After seeing the trailer, people began comparing it to hilarious films like Bridesmaids and The Hangover, so needless to say they were beyond excited for the release. Now that film's been out for a few days, you may be wondering, is Wine Country on Netflix good?
The plot of the film sounds totally fun, so we get why audiences were excited to watch it at first. It's about a group of gal pals who plan a getaway to Napa to celebrate a 50th birthday. Although the group of friends couldn't be more different, they all agree that a bit of rest and relaxation is exactly what they need! However, as the alcohol starts flowing, tensions rise, and things get awkward, fast.
Despite the movie being advertised well, people on Twitter have been absolutely ripping it apart over the past couple of days for a multitude of reasons:
Although there are a couple of positive reviews here and there, for the most part, audiences are saying that Wine Country completely missed the mark. Its audience score on Rotten Tomatoes is sitting at just 35% after a total of 184 ratings, and its score on the Tomatometer is only 67%, which leaves it sitting quite low compared to other comedies of the same nature.
If you're into SNL-esque humour, or are a middle-aged woman going through a midlife crisis you may get a better impression of Wine Country, but it seems as though most people are recommending you skip it. If you're interested in checking out the trailer, you can do so below.
