When you think of your childhood, you probably think of watching movies on Friday or Saturday evenings. Those movies were definitely Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and other Roald Dahl movies that brought so much joy and imagination to our lives. Well, of course, Netflix is all about remaking things. But this time it's a little different!
According to the The Hollywood Reporter, the streaming service will create these famous movies into animated series. Not only will it include two of our favourites, but it will also include George's Marvellous Medicine, The BFG, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, and The Twits. This deal with Netflix will be taken on by Roald Dahl's widow, Felicity Dahl. He unfortunately passed in 1990.
Don't be worried that Netflix will take this and make it their own. They stated that they will "remain faithful to the quintessential spirit and tone" of the iconic Roald Dahl's work. Netflix also confirmed that they are opening an in-house animation studio, which is a huge step for the company.
All of Roald Dahl's books and movies are part of our childhoods. To make these movies and books into an animated series will definitely bring so much nostalgia to our lives. Also, if Matilda isn't one of your all time favourite movies, did you even have a childhood?
Netflix will start production on these animated series in 2019, but no release date has been set for them. We all know that animated series takes a lot longer than filming a normal movie, so we could be waiting a couple of years.
