It looks like Netflix is trying to keep up with Hollywood because their newest film is going to be the most expensive one they have ever produced. Six Underground is set to be released in 2019 and has a budget of around $150 million. Previously the movie Bright, starring Will Smith, was the highest with a budget of $90 million.
The new movie is being directed by Hollywood box-office royalty, Michael Bay, who is known for shooting the Transformers franchise. Their cast was officially confirmed today and honestly, this move will be unreal.
Back in May, it was confirmed that fellow Canadian, Ryan Reynolds, was set to star in the film. Considering the plot is an original idea and was created by the writers of both Deadpool movies, it's no surprise that Reynolds was their obvious choice.
The plot's storyline follows six billionaires who fake their own death in order to become a team of elites with plans to take down bad guys. The movie plans to become a new franchise actually, so if things go well, there will be multiple (maybe even six?) Six Underground films!
Who else is joining the cast? Of course, a Franco brother because the film wouldn't be worth $150 million without it! Dave Franco has been confirmed to play one of the six billionaires set off to solve the world's crimes.
Alongside Reynolds and Franco, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo known for his role as Vasquez in The Magnificent Seven, Adria Arjona from HBO's hit show True Detective and Corey Hawkins who is known for playing Heath in The Walking Dead and Dr Dre in Straight Outta Compton.
While we're hoping that the movie will be filmed in Canada, just like Deadpool was, it looks like Michael Bay has big plans for his film. He posted on Instagram on June 17 that he was scouting in Italy with Reynolds for his new film.
Filming is expected to begin next month with the movie being released at some point next year.
This will be the first Netflix project for both Bay and Reynolds, but with such a huge budget there is no doubt that this will be one of the best films of 2019
