On March 3rd, news came out that Luke Perry had passed away. His friends and coworkers, along with the entire world, mourned his death. For every person who had watched him in Beverly Hills, 90210 and Riverdale, it was hard to move on. For Riverdale fans, they'll finally get closure. Riverdale is dedicating an entire episode to Luke Perry.
When Luke passed, Riverdale was in the middle of filming. They shut down production for a few days to let everyone grieve, and to figure out what they were going to do with the storyline. The creators of the show addressed how they would handle his death, but also said, "We know that we have to address it in some way, but we’re giving ourselves a little bit of time and space before we figure out the best way to honor him".
In April, the last episode with Luke Perry premiered and fans were absolutely heartbroken by it. Luke, who played Fred Andrews, was seen giving a talk to his son Archie who is played by KJ Apa. Now, the showrunner and creator of Riverdale Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed that the next episode of Riverdale would be a tribute to the late actor.
In a tweet last night, Roberto said, "Probably the most important episode of #Riverdale we'll do this year, if not ever" with a photo of the draft. He also explained that the episode is a "tribute to our fallen friend" and then mentioned he is "thankful for this opportunity to honor Luke and Fred". You can view the tweet below:
The episode is fully a tribute to Luke, as the title of the episode is called "In Memoriam". Fans can expect Riverdale to be back on October 9th, and since this is the first episode of the season, you'll be able to get your tears out early.
When Luke passed, a ton of his coworkers and friends paid tribute to him on social media. While this episode will be very sad and sentimental, we know the cast of Riverdale will do it in the best way possible.
