The Classic Holiday Movie 'Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer' Is Now Being Called Abusive And Problematic
The classic movie from 1964 is being ripped apart by fans.
From 1964 to 2018, our world has completely changed. A movie that is slightly blurry from the '90s is an inconvenience, stories are seen totally different, and people have way different opinions now then they did almost 55 years ago. But in our world today, it's easy to be offended by things. We don't want to keep our opinions to ourselves anymore, and that's great. But a lot of movies and TV shows from back in the day are being called out, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is one of those movies.
Classic Holiday Movie ‘Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer’ Is Being Called Offensive
It madethat the classic Christmas song Baby, It's Cold Outside was being removed from Canadian radio stations for inappropriate lyrics. So many different artists have covered that song, but now it's seen as inappropriate as it's basically a man begging a woman to stay over for the night. Now, people are ripping apart the movie Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer for other reasons.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a stop motion animated movie that was created in 1964. People are now seeing the movie as problematic and abusive, as the plot of the movie is really about Rudolph being bullied and verbally abused. It really all started when the movie was played on TV on November 27th, and then the Huffington Post posted a video on Twitter with the caption, "The holiday TV classic "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" is seriously problematic 😳". The video in the tweet, which is below, was viewed over 5 million times.

There are over 20,000 comments on the tweet, most of which are defending the animated movie. One person said, "Seriously.....this is what it's come down to. A 54 year animated Christmas movie that teaches acceptance and forgiveness, that's based on an even older Christmas Carol, is offending people. Obviously no one's ever listened to the lyrics of the song before." This person is referring to the lyrics of the popular Christmas song with the same name, Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer. The song also goes into the fact that the other reindeer are mean to him until someone, being Santa, sticks up for him, and then they all leave him alone.
By reading the tweets on this video, you'll see that hardly anyone who is a lover of the classic movie refers to it as problematic or abusive. Here are a few tweets to prove that they won't be boycotting Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer anytime soon.
Yes, a story about accepting yourself and others differences is a seriously problematic story. Especially for a site that despises diversity, especially of thought.— Duke Chastaine (@HammDogg26) December 3, 2018
What if, get this, we have a story with character flaws and personality conflicts?— Toon Lockstin (@Lockstin) December 3, 2018
What kind of movie do you want? With no obsticle to overcome, theres nothing interesting about a story.
People are offended by fiction that happened 50 years ago? Okay.— Paul Lennon (@Lenlfc) December 1, 2018
