Spice World was the movie of the century when it was released in 1997, and now that the Spice Girls are back, so are their big-screen opportunities. Although the first concert of their reunion tour was a little shaky, they've since made up for it and now Paramount has joined the equation. The Spice Girls are making another movie!
Paramount released its animation slate and girl power is part of it! Paramount takes pride in their majority female senior staff, and are enhancing that pride with a Spice Girls animated film. Mireille Soria, the president of Paramount Animation, announced that the movie is in the early stages of development. It's part of a group of films slated to be released in pairs every year starting in 2020.
They also released that the movie was the Spice Girls idea, "they had an idea that we've been developing." All five of them will be cast in the movie and, "They are very involved," in the production of it.
We don't know much about the film yet. Only that it will be produced by Simon Fuller and written by Karen McCullah and Kiwi Smith. The movie will also include the girl groups classic hits and music that hasn't been released yet!
Mireille says the studio is, "all about a diverse slate of movies, but the common denominator being quality, story, heart." Other movies unveiled for Paramount's' future include The Spongebob Movie: It's a Wonderful Sponge and a Mighty Mouse film.
