This Terrifying Movie Where A Teenage Girl Is Raised By A Robot "Mother" Is Coming To Netflix Canada Soon

Siri might seem a little sinister after you watch "I Am Mother" on Netflix.

If we learned anything from the Super Bowl commercials, it's that the robot takeover is imminent. TurboTax, Sprint and Michelob ULTRA told us it's happening, but they didn't provide much insight as to how to handle it. Fortunately, Netflix has our backs with their recent deal for North American rights to I Am Mother. Bring on the dystopic future!

In I Am Mother, the human race is all but completely extinct, and robots are attempting to repopulate Earth. "Mother" is a robot, voiced by Rose Byrne, raising human children in a bunker. All that's going about as well as could be expected when an injured stranger shows up.

The stranger that's not in good shape is Hilary Swank. Like we imagine our own attitudes in this scenario, Hilary's character is way mistrustful of the whole robot and mommy thing and we all know how the new world order deals with skeptics. Hopefully, Hilary has a bit of the Million Dollar Baby fight left in her.

Netflix's I Am Mother film deal is the latest big purchase the streaming service made at this year's Sundance Film Festival. Viewers also have Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile to look forward to seeing in their queue soon.

Like I Am MotherExtremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile is a thriller; however, this film is based on a true story. The movie is told through the eyes of Ted Bundy's girlfriend. Zac Efron stars as the notorious serial killer, and Lily Collins plays a character based on Bundy's girlfriend at the time of his arrest, Liz Kloepfer.

Both films are expected to premiere on Netflix later this year. No matter your favorite genre, the streaming service has a thriller for you. Netflix seems on a mission to make sure we never get a good night's sleep again.
