If you're anything like me, then you love discovering new movies on Netflix. I spend most of my evenings watching new tv shows and movies in hopes to find the next big thing.
While perusing my Netflix guide, I came across a movie titled Kiss & Cry. From the looks of it, it seemed like one of those high school romances like The Kissing Booth or Alex Strangelove, but boy was I wrong.
Kiss & Cry is a movie based on the true story of a Toronto teenager, Carley Allison. Carley Allison is a figure skater and singer who finds love just as she is diagnosed with rare cancer. In the film, Carley finds the love of her life, John and their romance progresses as her illness takes over.
The story is heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time.
Former Degrassi star Sarah Fisher plays Carley in the film and Luke Bilyk plays her love interest, John. The film was released in Canada in February 2017, which was two years after the real-life events took place.
We don't want to reveal too much so if you want to watch the film and don't want any spoilers, stop reading here!

After watching the film, we began researching Carley and her story behind the film. It turns out that Sarah Fisher, who plays Carley in the film, is actually friends with Carley in real life.
Here's a photo of them together in 2015 on Carley's official Instagram account.
Here's the real YouTube video that earned Carley a personal message from Selena Gomez back in 2013.
This is a video that captures the real moment when Carley sang the national anthem of Canada.
Oh, and after more researching, we found an actual photo of Carley and John! Yes, John is real! This is a photo of the real Carley Allison and John Servinis that the film is based on.
Here's a photo of the real John Servinis from his Instagram account. He posted this photo as a tribute to Carley and their love story in March.
As you may know, a foundation was created in Carley's name that's dedicated to supporting families that are battling with rare cancer. You can find all of the information about Carley's Angels Foundation on Instagram and on their official website.
You can watch the full movie on Netflix Canada.
