In most action and adventure movies, the cast is male-dominated, and female characters are only around to play the roles of needy damsels in distress. We've come to expect this from movies in this genre, and nobody ever really questions it.
Now that it's 2019 though, I think it's finally time we push the status quo and shake things up a little, and it would seem that Netflix agrees! They just released a trailer for their new film, Close, and it looks action packed, seriously badass, and (perhaps best of all), female dominated.
Close stars Noomi Rapace, who plays a hardcore security expert, hired specifically to protect an heiress from highly trained kidnappers who are out to get her. As the movie unfolds, Rapace discovers that these kidnappers have a brutally sinister plot - and it's up to her, and her alone to save the heiress.
If action and adventure movies are your thing, this movie is right up your alley! You can think of it of a female-dominated James Bond of sorts. Close is just one of the over 90 films that Netflix plans to release this year, and you'll be able to watch it on the streaming service as of January 18th.
