'Extraction' On Netflix Is Even More Popular Than 'Bird Box' & 'Murder Mystery'

Action! Chris Hemsworth’s new movie, Extraction on Netflix, premiered less than two weeks ago but is already on track to become the streaming platform’s biggest movie yet. With early numbers already rivalling hit movies like Bird Box and Murder Mystery, Netflix is expecting the film to reach the top by the end of the month.
If you have yet to check out the number one trending film, it follows a mercenary, played by Hemsworth, who is recruited by a crime lord. He’s tasked with tracking down his kidnapped son and is forced to navigate a dangerous course through Bangladesh’s drug underworld.
Netflix revealed their future predictions for the action film in a tweet, “EXTRACTION is well on its way to becoming the biggest-ever film premiere on Netflix — with a projected 90 million households getting in on the action in the first 4 weeks.”

When you’re comparing the film to other original hits, Business Insider previously reported that Netflix had projected 80 million viewers in Bird Box’s first-month streaming. Adam Sandler’s Murder Mystery also drew in 73 million viewers in its first four weeks, according to Forbes.
Hemsworth even took the time to thank everyone for helping make the film as successful as it is. In an Instagram video, the Marvel actor praised subscribers for getting Extraction the title of being “the number one film on the planet.”
He also confirmed the streaming services tweet saying it looked like the film was on its way to being the biggest on Netflix yet.
Viewers are showing Hemsworth the love right back. With an audience score of 70% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 90% on Google, the hype around Extraction might come as no surprise.
An intense storyline and popular leading man may not be the only reason the film is seeing huge numbers. Netflix recently revealed that it saw an increase of 15.8 million subscribers in the past four months.
