Who doesn’t love cottage weekends, filled with good beer and good friends? Having a few weekend getaways to relax by the lake, cold brews sweating on the dock, is a staple experience during a true Canadian summer, after all. And with the warm weather we’ve been having, you’d be lying if you said you hadn’t already started fantasizing about your summer plans. If you’re looking for a way to kick off your summer early, we’ve got some news you’re going to love: Toronto’s hosting a huge beer festival this May, and it promises to be everything that friend with the cottage is, and more.

Brought to you by the same team that organizes Toronto’s legendary summer festival, Toronto's Festival of Beer, Spring Beerfest Toronto is shaping up to be quite the coveted event. Happening Saturday, May 18, and Sunday, May 19, at Fort York: Garrison Common, you can spend your long weekend tasting some of the best local brews and eats while listening to live music. Torontonians really don’t have an excuse to not check it out, as this event will be taking place right in the heart of downtown Toronto.

In terms of what to expect, think excellent-quality beer from the finest craft breweries around Ontario, and irresistible eats from some of Toronto’s most popular food trucks. While that’s enough to sell us on this festival alone, there’ll also be live entertainment and sweet tunes to set the mood. Spring Beerfest Toronto’s own DJ will be serving up jams all the way back from the 60s ‘til today, featuring everything from old-school soul, today’s hip-hop, and even some good ol’ rock ‘n roll. Count. Us. In!

Spring Beerfest Toronto is cottage themed, creating an inviting country retreat in the heart of the city. Imagine it as an awesome prelude to all the summer weekends you’ll be spending by the dock at your friend’s cottage, beer in hand – except in this case, you can experience it all without the long drive out to the boonies. For city folk, this is truly the best of both worlds.

Really staying loyal to the cottage theme, Spring Beerfest Toronto is also going to provide all your favourite chalet games for you to play with your buds. Giant Connect-4, Bocce provided by Track & Field Bar, Corn-hole provided by Bangarang Bar, Kanjam, archery shooting provided by Archers Arena, Giant Jenga (my personal favourite), life size Beer Pong, and more will all be at your disposal. After all, what’s better than a few beers and Jenga? Nothing. That’s what.

With the gorgeous weather that’s surely on its way, Spring Beerfest Toronto is going to be one event that you don’t want to miss out on. Tickets are on sale now, going for only $24. Grab yours now before they sell out!

Since it is a beerfest, this event is open to those aged 19+. And while they do love babies and animals (they even say so right on their website!), please find a babysitter and leave the pets at home for this weekend. You deserve a break away, anyway!

Spring Beerfest Toronto is happening Saturday, May 18, and Sunday, May 19, at Fort York: Garrison Common (100 Garrison), in downtown Toronto. Check out their website and follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for more info!
