Have you had to endure one too many family sing-alongs? Maybe you’re just tired of the same ol’ board games. As much as you love your crazy fun fam, you just don’t know what to do with them.
And, worst of all, Family Day is coming up.
Well, Perth Tourism might just have the perfect solution for you. This family weekend, instead of enduring another round of Pictionary, take the fam to the Frost & Fire Winter Festival (and, no, this isn’t an event from Game of Thrones).
In typical Perth fashion, the whole town is uniting to put on a great event, which means that there will be something for everyone. And the best part is, a lot of these events are free! You can find out which ones by clicking here.
For the adventurous type, there’s laser tag at Stewart Park (hosted by Marked Ultimate Family Adventure Park). Looking for classic family fun? There is bowling at The Spare Room (which is reopening just in time for this event). For those who love a moment with that special someone, there’s the Fire & Ice dance with the band Open Road at the Crystal Palace.
Finally, anyone seeking hidden treasures has to visit the Frost and Fire Market. Here you’ll find an amazing demonstration area for many wonderful exhibitions. This includes vendors from Perth Farmers’ Market and Smiths Falls & District Arts & Culture Council, as well as organizations such as The Men’s Shed, a company that promotes openness and camaraderie for males, and the Blueberry Creek Forest School and Nature Centre, which will be offering crafts for children while also collecting donations to help those affected by the Australian wildfires. You can also visit The Tay Valley Cross Country Ski Club, a volunteer not-for-profit community organization that will be offering equipment demos.
And, surprisingly, that’s not it!
Other activities include skating with the Perth Blue Wings hockey team (hosted by the Perth & District Community Centre, which is also offering free skates!), a scavenger hunt through the local businesses, crafts, workshops, and more!
After all that excitement, you can enjoy some outdoor skating on the Little Tay. To get all the festival details, make sure to visit Perth’s Facebook page by clicking here.
Some great local groups are also immersing themselves in the Frost & Fire Winter Festival. You can hit up a workshop on how to creatively and deliciously use winter storage crops brought to you by The Table. This charity wants to create a collaborative community by giving everyone access to healthy food.
And, if you’re in the mood to learn, then you have to visit the award-winning Perth Museum that will be hosting some great arts and craft workshops. The museum itself is like a trip back to the 1840s — that perfect combination of adventure and education.
And maybe, just maybe, you’ve had enough of this cold weather. Well, then, you have to visit Perth’s community pool, which will be offering a “Beach Day” that’s all fun and games.
Quite simply, the Frost & Fire Winter Festival will allow you to immerse yourself in Perth's culture scene while exploring this small town and all the charm it has to offer!
From live music to innovative museums and wonderful companies, see what makes Perth special. It’s the perfect place to spend your Family Day. So, on February 15, 16 or 17, make sure to put away the board games and drag the family to the Frost & Fire Winter Festival. You won’t regret it.
