The Bears managed to defeat "America's team," the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday and while the team's spirits must be at a high level, few Bears players must be feeling as well as Khalil Mack. The Florida native decided to give back to his hometown community by paying off every single Holiday layaway account from his local Fort Pierce Walmart.
Apart from his sack on Thursday against the Cowboys, the linebacker accomplished some pretty noteworthy things this week. By things, we mean acts that are greater than just football. He's really bringing the Christmas spirit to town early.
According to this source, an exact dollar was not disclosed, but he paid over 300 layaway accounts.
Mack was born in Fort Pierce and went to Fort Pierce Westwood High, where he stood out on the football field. The Florida native began his NFL career in Oakland with the Raiders and is currently leading the Bears' defense as the Chicago team looks to nab a last-minute ticket to the NFL Playoffs.
Through his foundation, the Kahlil Mack Foundation, the NFL linebacker was able to make plenty of families' holiday wishes come true with this extremely generous gesture.
Mack is no stranger to giving back to the community. This past summer, he joined another Miami legend in Dwyane Wade over in Mack's current home base of Chicago for the Dwyane Wade basketball camp.
Clearly, the Florida boy was having fun with the children of Chicago and Wade in the summer heat.
Fans let their opinions be heard on Twitter after cathcing wind of Mack's Christmas gesture.
