Whether you're a Game of Thrones fan or not, chances are very high that you heard a thing or two about the series finale that premiered on Sunday night. As with most shows, the reviews were super mixed, and although some people were totally content with who ended up on the Iron Throne, a lot of people were totally unimpressed with not only the writing of the last season but tons of other details as well. As a result of the disappointment, people have been urging the cast to remake the season and the Game of Thrones season 8 petition has Sophie Turner outraged at fans.
If you weren't aware, there a petition circulating the internet that has already accumulated over 1.3 million signatures, begging the cast, crew, and creators of Game of Thrones to remake the final season with an ending that's going to please more people, or at least make a bit more sense to audiences. Word of the petition has reached many of the actors, and needless to say, they're pissed.
In an interview with The New York Times, Sophie Turner, who played Sansa Stark opened up about the whole situation, saying, "All of these petitions and things like that — I think it’s disrespectful to the crew, and the writers, and the filmmakers who have worked tirelessly over 10 years, and for 11 months shooting the last season. Like 50-something night shoots. So many people worked so, so hard on it, and for people to just rubbish it because it’s not what they want to see is just disrespectful.”
Although she is hurt by the petition, Turner admitted that she gets why people were disappointed by the writing, but she also quickly reminded them that the series has been full of crazy plot twists and unexpected outcomes right from the first season, and that's what got people hooked on the show so quickly.
Not only did the writing leave people unimpressed, but there were also several set flubs this season that people couldn't help but notice, like the presence of a Starbucks coffee cup in a scene, as well as not one, but two plastic water bottles were spotted in a particularly heavy moment within the show. The carelessness of this made fans feel as though this season was definitely rushed.
Despite the critiques, Turner has said that she felt 100% satisfied with the show's ending, and she's particularly pleased with the growth, strength, and resilience that Sansa has shown as a character, and she hopes that fans will be able to recognize that too.
