You Can Test Your Bravery On This Pitch Black Night Hike In Georgia This November

We are lucky to live in Georgia because there are so many natural wonders that you get to explore. You can spend your day at these locations and want to go back again and again. Some of these wonders have events where you can explore them at night, a totally new way to experience them. Providence Canyon State Park is one of these places and you can go on a Halloween hike on Nov. 1.

Providence Canyon State Park is Georgia's "little grand canyon." It really does live up to its nickname because it has gullies that are up to 150 feet. The different rock formations and colors will make you stop and stare, and probably take a few pictures.

Providence Canyon is already a hot commodity and a must-see in Georgia. The day after Halloween is known as The Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos), a traditional Mexican holiday where it is said ghosts can be seen and felt. Who knows what can happen in the woods at night.

It might be held on the day after Halloween, but spooky season lasts all fall in our books. If you are worried about getting lost in the dark, there will be a ranger leading your group through the darkness.

The hike is from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. You will have a whole hour and a half to explore in the dark. Most of the time, you have to have a permit or go on another guided hike to get to the bottom, but not on this adventure.

This event is rare and only comes once a year, so you need to add it to your schedule. You will be guided by a park ranger, so no need to be nervous about getting lost.

The State Park recommends that you bring a flashlight because that and the moonlight will be the only light sources you will have.

Another great part about this event is the price. It is only $10 to attend: $5 for admission and $5 for parking. You will meet at the visitor's center and then be on your way. If you love night hikes, you can check out this one in North Georgia that has events throughout the fall months

We strongly advise that before you go swimming or visit any location, you check the most recent updates on potential hazards, security, water quality, and closures. If you do plan to visit a location, respect the environment.
