Ariana Grande Teased Her New Song And We Think We Know Who 'Ghostin' Is About
The internet is buzzing with theories after Ariana Grande dropped the tracklist for her upcoming album.
In preparation for her upcoming album release, Ariana Grande has been all over social media. And, fans are taking full advantage of her accessibility. On Tuesday night, Ariana shared the tracklist for her new album. The internet immediately began theorizing, specifically wondering which of Ari's exes Ghostin' is about. Ordinarily, the chatter would be nothing more than speculation, but Ariana is adding some clarity to the chaos.
One Twitter user just straight up asked Ariana the story behind Ghostin'. Ask and you shall receive! Here's the singer's response: "Feeling bad for the person you're with bc you love somebody else. Feeling badly bc he can tell he can't compare...and how I should be ghosting him." Wow, that's a lot to work with!
Well, we think it's pretty obvious Ariana is talking about Pete Davidson and Mac Miller. For a refresher, she broke up with Mac Miller last May—after being together for two years—and started dating Pete Davidson, like, pretty much right away. They got engaged, but that came to an end in the weeks following Mac's Septemeber death.
Let's look at Ariana's thank u, next lyrics for more evidence: Even almost got married / And for Pete, I'm so thankful / Wish I could say "Thank you" to Malcolm / 'Cause he was an angel. Based on her Twitter response and lyrics, we think Pete is the ex "Ghostin" is about. She obviously cared about him (they were engaged, after all), but what she shared with Mac was something really special.
Ariana Grande's new album drops Feb. 8. Until then, we'll be busy trying to puzzle out who bad idea, NASA and—my personal fave—break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored is about.
