It feels like just yesterday when all the hustle and bustle surrounding the Calgary Stampede took over the city. Your favourite artists from all over the world were headlining major concerts every night, and everyone was rocking their best plaid and cowboy hats. It looks like it might be time to break them out again though, as the 2019 Canadian Country Music Awards will be hosted by Billy Ray Cyrus in Calgary.

Billy Ray is a man who's loved by people of all ages. Whether you know him as the voice behind some of your favourite country songs, as Miley Cyrus' dad in real life and on Hannah Montana, or as the man who teamed up with Lil Nas X on Old Town Road, he's someone that's hard to forget.

Billy Ray has been a staple in the country music scene for years, and with his recent rising popularity, it only makes sense for him to be one of the hosts for the upcoming Canadian Country Music Awards!

The event will be happening here in Calgary on September 8th at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Hosting alongside Cyrus is none other than reigning CCMA Male Artist of the Year, Dallas Smith. The two are sure to put on one memorable show for audiences in the building and watching at home.

Recently, Cyrus sat down for an interview with Cheryl Hickey of ET Canada to talk about the upcoming event. He spoke about how important the energy of the audience is to an award show's success, and just how excited he is to be heading back to Canada.

"This is going to be a good time, Calgary, and I can’t wait to celebrate Canadian country’s biggest night with everyone. This is really a full circle moment for me because I received my first ever platinum record plaque while I was in Canada in the ’90s. We also shot the series ‘Doc’ in Toronto, so it feels like coming home every time I’m in Canada. I’m really looking forward to co-hosting the show with Dallas."

If you can't make it to the show yourself but are still interested in watching, it will be airing live on Global on Sept. 8 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. If you don't have cable, you can also catch the event streaming live from Global's Twitter!
