If you thought the Bieber vs. Binnington shootout challenge wasn’t actually happening, you thought wrong. The “Yummy” singer and the NHLer have begun smack-talking one another on Instagram ahead of the big event and it’s pretty hilarious.

On January 1, Bieber posted a photo to his IG page challenging the St. Louis Blues goaltender to a friendly competition. The Canadian pop-star suggested that if he can score a goal on Binnington, then the professional hockey player will have to donate $10,000 to a charity of Bieber’s choice.

According to NHL, on January 24 San Jose Sharks forward Tomas Hertl wore a cut-out of the 25-year-old singer’s face over his helmet at the 2020 All-Star Skills game while facing Binnington.

"It took me a second to take in what was going on; it got the blood boiling a little bit," the Canadian goaltender told NHL. "I know that competition is coming up so it is good practice for me. You know, I expected more out of Biebs today so it's back to the drawing board probably in preparing and we'll see what he has."

According to his Instagram, Bieber has been getting in some practice of his own.

“@binniner i got filthy mits it's not lookin good for you,” the “As Long As You Love Me” captioned a video showing off his skills.

“Hands are looking smooth. Keep your head up, I’m poke checking you on shots 2,5 and 7,” Binnington replied to his celebrity competitor in the comment section.

An exact date for the big event hasn’t yet been determined, although NHL pointed out that Bieber has a stop in St. Louis on July 13 for his upcoming tour.

The singer will also be making four stops in Canada over the coming months in Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto, and Ottawa.
