Love is in the air! Elon Musk's girlfriend, Canadian singer Grimes is one of the most eccentric artists in the music industry right now, although she's achieved incredible success so far. The duo took the internet by surprise when they made their red carpet debut back in 2018, but are still going strong two years later.

Musk is known for his work as Tesla's CEO, but his girlfriend, on the other hand, is known for her totally obscure and out-of-the-box talent in the music industry. Here are some things you should definitely know about Grimes:

She recently released her fifth studio album

On February 21, Grimes released Miss Anthropocene. According to Discogs, this is her fifth studio album. Musk’s girlfriend released her first project, Halfaxa a decade ago, in 2010, and has steadily put out new albums and singles since then.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Grimes revealed that Miss Anthropocene’s first track, “So Heavy I Fell Through the Earth” is actually about her experience with pregnancy.

She’s from Vancouver, British Columbia

According to Business Insider, the singer was born in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia with the name Claire Boucher. She pursued her creativity from a young age and even attended a school that was specifically focused on the arts, although she didn’t pursue music until later in life.

Famous Birthdays reports that Grimes was born on March 17, 1988, meaning that she’s currently 31 years old.

She’s currently pregnant with her first child

Earlier this year, the “Oblivian” singer shocked the internet with her super eccentric pregnancy announcement that was almost deemed too controversial for Instagram. The photo shows Grimes, shirtless, her stomach practically translucent and holding a baby.

People weren’t entirely convinced that the announcement was legitimate and thought it was maybe just part of her unusual persona, but the Canadian star has since confirmed that she and Musk are, in fact, expecting their first child together.

She’s nocturnal

In her interview with Rolling Stone, Grimes spoke about how she’s always had an unusual sleep schedule, and how she believes that her unborn baby will likely be the same.

“When I first got pregnant I tried to sleep at a reasonable time, and it actually made me feel really bad. I think my kid will be nocturnal. Currently, it is! It doesn’t move during the day, only at night,” she explained.

She attended Montreal’s McGill University

Business Insider reports that Grimes left Vancouver to attend McGill University in Montreal. It was during this time that she uncovered her true passion for music, and eventually she dropped out of school to focus solely on her career.

She plans to raise her child without a gender

In a recent YouTube Livestream, Grimes gave fans the opportunity to ask her some questions. When asked what the gender of her unborn baby is, the 31-year-old revealed that she doesn’t want to share that information because she thinks the baby’s privacy should be protected.

She also mentioned that she doesn’t want to gender the child in case that’s not how they identify, and she doesn’t want to reveal the name that she has picked out because “everyone [she’s] told hates it.”
