Jonathan Scott and Zooey Deschanel's Elf photo is proving to the world just how cute their relationship is. Earlier this year the Property Brother and New Girl actress broke their dating news to fans after a spooky date at Universal Studios Fright Night. Now that it's Christmas, the couple is putting their monster masks away in exchange for some elf time.

The Instagram Christmas shenanigans started last night when Deschanel posted a photo of herself from a scene in her 2003 film Elf. She captioned the still of her dressed up as Santa's helper decorating a tree, "In the mood for some swirly twirly gumdrops!"

Her boyfriend Scott quoted the cutest line from the film in the comments, "You're so pretty you could be on a Christmas card 😍."

However, he wasn't finished with the photo just yet.

On his own Instagram account, he managed to get the entire photo from the film where Will Ferrell's character is also in the shot.

Instead of leaving it as Ferrell, he photoshopped his own face as the elf staring up at his girlfriend.

Knowing that Buddy the Elf and Deschanel's character, Jovie, fall in love in the film makes this Holiday gesture even more adorable.

Even Canadian YouTuber Brittlestar loved the editing job commenting "😂 💯pts" under the photo.

Photoshopping isn't the only festive activity the couple has been up to this holiday season.

Just yesterday Scott posted a photo of himself with the actress holding Christmas cookie versions of themselves. He also had a matching caption for the post, "When you surround yourself with amazing, creative people... the result is magical :)"

Deschanel recently wrapped up her holiday tour with her band She & Him and Scott is anticipating a magazine release with brother Drew Scott in January 2020.
