YouTuber Lilly Singh Says Toronto “Shaped Her Into Who She Is” In A Tribute About The Raptors
She'll always be a huge fan!
It's not every day that someone who makes a list on Forbes magazine credits a Canadian city for shaping who they are. Lilly Singh, also known as IISuperwomanII, has been representing Canada on Youtube since 2010. Although she spends most of her time in Los Angeles, she makes the trip back to Toronto to watch Raptors games. In honour of the Raptors first NBA finals, Lilly Singh took the time to post a tribute about the Raptors.
In her tribute she wrote:
"Today’s the day. The first time in history the Toronto @raptors will compete in the NBA finals and I couldn’t be more thrilled! The city of Toronto is responsible for so much of who I am. From my comedy, to my style, to my values, to the twang in my voice, to my ability to buss a wine, dance bhangra, understand Tamil and appreciate a Jamaican patty. I love my city so much and I’m forever grateful to our boys for working so hard and allowing us to have this beautiful moment. We’re behind you 100% and regardless of the outcome, you’ve put the city on one and made us so proud. Now that I’m done being sentimental and pc, let’s eff it up and bring it home baby! #WeTheNorthRAHHH 💪🏽❤️🇨🇦"
There's been a lot of support for the Raptor's from celebrities in the past couple of weeks but Lilly took it to the next level. She thanked Toronto as a city for making her into the person she is today.
That's huge considering how successful she's become in the last few years. Not only is she on the Forbes list for top 10 Youtubers with the highest income, but herwill be airing this fall on NBC (Corus Entertainment will air the show in Canada). She'll become the first woman of colour to ever host a late night talk show.
She's breaking history and crediting Toronto for getting her there!
It seems like no matter how famous you get, you never forget your roots. We don't know what's next for Lilly, but we do know she'll strut her Toronto pride whatever chance she gets!
