A new bromance could be on the horizon! Ryan Reynolds has made no secret of his love for Ottawa, and that seems to extend to the city’s mayor. On Sunday, Mayor Jim Watson confirmed that Reynolds had followed him on social media, and he responded with the sweetest message. Maybe Ryan Reynolds and Jim Watson are the Canadian-combo we didn’t know we needed!

Ryan Reynolds loves O-Town, and he’s made no secret of his appreciation for all-things-Ottawa. It seems this even includes the mayor!

On Sunday, Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson confirmed that the Vancouver-born superstar had recently followed him on Twitter, and he had a special message for the actor.

“@VancityReynolds thanks for the follow!” tweeted Watson.

“On behalf of the people of Ottawa thank you for your generosity over the past few weeks,” the mayor continued. “We look forward to seeing you at the rescheduled Governor General performing arts awards at Canada's National Arts Centre."

Watson concluded his sweet message with the hashtag, "#nicecanadian.”

The mayor's comments come as Reynolds, and his wife Blake Lively, donated a serious amount of cash to several of Ottawa's struggling food banks and charities.

After initially donating to several food banks during Easter weekend, the Canada-loving couple went on to give an additional $2000 to a mental health charity, after the local organization requested support.

Earlier this month, the Deadpool star admitted that he has a certain affinity for the capital city, as he actually used to live there when he was younger.

Responding to the Ottawa food bank that he donated to, Reynolds explained, "Blake and I are so happy to give back to a country that's given us so much. I happily have Canada running through my blood …"

"I used to live in Ottawa (in Vanier),” he added. “It holds a special place in my heart.”

Responding to Mayor Watson’s message to the A-list actor, some Ottawans suggested honouring Reynolds' commitment to the capital with a city key, or even a plaque.

One person responded to Watson, “We should give him the City Key, as well as have a Ryan Reynolds Day!”

Reacting to the news that the actor used to live in Vanier, another local responded, “Where in Vanier? Need to put a plaque!”

While Reynolds is yet to respond to Mayor Watson's tweet, this sweet interaction could be the start of Canada's greatest bromance.

Step aside, Trudeau and Obama, Reynolds and Watson are about to become Canada's new favourite duo!
