He loves the Leafs, the team loves him back, but it appears Los Angeles has mixed feelings about Justin Bieber. As Toronto's hockey stars faced off against the Kings in L.A. on March 5, the home fans didn't go too easy on the star. With Justin Bieber watching the Leafs, the singer had his face shown on the scoreboard and was booed by fans pretty loudly as he repped his Toronto jersey.
Bieber was attending the game at Staples Center with his wife Hailey.
His Instagram, along with the Leafs' official account, showed snaps of the young married couple out to support Justin's favourite team.
It was hard enough for Bieber to swallow that the Leafs lost 0-1 to the Kings on Thursday night.
But, according to the Toronto Sun, he was also jeered by the LA crowd. Bieber was shown on the scoreboard and proudly showed off his Leafs jersey. He was immediately greeted with loud boos across the arena.
Apparently, LA has mixed feelings on the superstar, though. The Sun reports he was initially cheered when shown on the screen. Until he showed off his Leafs support, that is.
You can take the man out of Toronto, but you can't take Toronto out of the man.
Justin and Hailey were joined by Bieber's mom, Canadian author Pattie Mallette.
Although he was booed by the supporters in LA, it seemed like it was all love with Bailey, the Kings mascot. Or tough love, at least, judging from a snap shared on Bailey's on Instagram.
We can only imagine he was trying to get some payback for the result.
JB has been a Leafs fan since way before he found superstardom. And he's been catching games throughout the years as much as he can.
Is it safe to call him the ultimate fanboy? It seems like a fair comparison to us.
The Biebs is so much so that he even had a chance to be an honourary Leaf for a day and played alongside some of the team's players and bro Auston Matthews.
Despite the fact that he's Justin Bieber, his strong friendship with Matthews and their mutual love for each other probably helped him get the temporary gig.
In fact, Bieber loves the Leafs so much he's even got Arizona-born Hailey repping the team.
Sorry, LA. JB's still all about the 6ix.
