Despite the numerous hashtags on Twitter and constant fan outcry, it does not seem like Netflix has any plans to renew Anne With An E, the fan-favourite series based on Anne Of Green Gables. The decision to end the show seems to have caught the attention of at least one prominent Canadian.

On Twitter, Ryan Reynolds expressed his support for the show in a reply to a tweet from Netflix promoting Anne With An E's final season.

"You guys might want to renew Anne with an E. Unless 'final season' is just a fun way of saying 'halfway point,'" the actor wrote.

The star's tweet also prompted a reply from the show's creator, Moira Walley-Beckett, who replied saying "Aw, thanks Ryan! You’re a Kindred Spirit!"

The original tweet from the Deadpool actor and Vancouver native has been retweeted nearly 12,000 times and has racked up over 33,000 likes.

Anne With An E originally aired on CBC, with the episodes being added to Netflix later. However, the show's cancellation comes at a time when CBC and Netflix will no longer be working together.

There has already been major fan outcry to the cancellation of the show, with numerous hashtags popping up on Twitter calling for the show's renewal.

However, even Walley-Beckett has admitted that this is most likely the end of the series, writing in a November Instagram post, "We have reached the end of the red Green Gables road after 3 wonderful seasons."

Reynolds himself recently starred in the Netflix project 6 Underground, an action film directed by Michael Bay and released exclusively on the streaming platform.

The actor has always worn his Canadian identity on his sleeve. After all, his biggest role to date is playing one of the most famous Canadian superheroes out there. Well, maybe calling Deadpool a superhero is a stretch, but he does his best!
