Simu Liu has had quite the week. The Canadian actor shot into the spotlight this month following the announcement that he would be cast as Marvel’s first-ever Asian superhero. It’s been a wild ride so far for Simu Liu, and it’s just getting started.

Amongst the heaps of praise from fans and friends alike that Liu has received since booking the part came one compliment that the actor considered the highest honour of all. Canada’s official Twitter account gave Marvel’s new hero a shout out on Thursday, which was a gesture that Liu was not about to take for granted.

“In my country, getting a mention from the official Twitter of Canada is the same as being knighted. I humbly accept the title of Meme Lord Simu Liu of the Triple Pork Poutine. Thank you for this tremendous honour.”

Earlier this week, Liu sat down for an interview to talk about how he was dealing with the life-changing experience. “It’s just been the craziest, craziest dream that I could possibly ever imagine happening in real life,” Liu said to City News

Liu announced earlier this month that he would be starring in “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”, a film set to debut in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“But I’m also learning to just go with the flow and enjoy the ride a little bit because this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, he added.

Liu also showed support for his new co-star Awkwafina earlier this week by giving away hundreds of free tickets to the premiere of “The Farewell” at Toronto’s Varsity Cinemas. The actor was swarmed by ecstatic fans when he arrived at the theatre for the showing, proving once and for all that Marvel buzz is the best buzz.

Marvel's "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" will hit theaters on February 12, 2021.
