If you've been keeping up with the new Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun drama you're probably wondering if there are any Canadians that this scandal is affecting. The answer is yes because Scooter Braun represents two Canadian artists that are actually very important in the Canadian music scene.
If you need a recap on the whole scandal surrounding Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun, here it is. Taylor Swift left her original production company, Big Machine Records, where she gave up the rights to all her music up until her album Reputation in 2017. Now, Scooter Braun has bought the company that signed her record deals which means he owns all of her past music.
Taylor took to Tumblr to release a statement in a response to a post Justin Bieber made on his Instagram. She discussed how she felt about having someone who constantly bullied her basically own her roots saying, "Never in my worst nightmares did I imagine the buyer would be Scooter. Any time Scott Borchetta [her previous label manager] has heard the words ‘Scooter Braun’ escape my lips, it was when I was either crying or trying not to." You can view the full post below:
Justin Bieber is one of the Canadians that Scooter represents and after he was called out alongside his manager, he responded with his own Instagram post defending Scooter. He expressed his concern that Taylor was attempting to deal with the issues on social media:
"I feel like the only way to resolve conflict is through communication. So banter back and forth online I don't believe solves anything. I’m sure Scooter and I would love to talk to you and resolve any conflict, pain or any feelings that need to be addressed."
Justin Bieber is one of the two Canadians that Scooter represents. Scooter is actually the person who discovered Justin's YouTube videos and got in contact with his mother. He got him his first record deal and the two have been inseparable ever since.
After Scooters breakthrough with Justin Bieber, he signed a contract to become manager to Canadian pop star Carly Rae Jepsen. You definitely know her hit song Call Me Maybe. She has yet to chime in on the situation along with Scooter's other big client, Ariana Grande.
